Most of you are aware of the new Nashville ordinance where any business with a capacity over 100, that sells alcohol and that has live music is now required to install new sprinkler systems in their establishments. Some clubs were lucky and had already installed the new system, but other businesses are looking at $70,000+ for the repairs. Some clubs will have to entirely destroy their own sidewalks and city streets to make the repairs before they even begin working on the inside.
Chances are, one of your favorite music venues is under-the-gun to make these repairs before the deadline (mid-2010). The "Board of Fire & Building Code Appeals" is giving the businesses another 18 months to scrape up the money, but $70,000 for one of the smaller clubs is completely unattainable. There is just no way they can afford it.
So the question is... Would you rather risk death-by-fire while attending a concert or watch some of our beloved local businesses go down in bankruptcy flames? I, for one, support a grandfather-clause allowing all current owners to pass while requiring new businesses to install the new, and admittedly safer, systems. Don't get me wrong, the incident in Rhode Island was a sad indicator that something needed to change. What do you think? For more info visit this link: News Channel 5

It's obvious that we need a large, natural amphitheater. Preferably somewhere near percy priest. Fire's can't stop us!
